The Force is Strong with That Voice

We felt a great disturbance in the Force yesterday. It turns out that’s because actor James Earl Jones had died at the age of 93.

Jones was a phenomenal actor, full stop. And his presence in the American theater (touched on in several of the pieces above), deserve remembrance and recognition. But, of course, here we’re thinking of James Earl Jones and that voice. And let’s be honest, for so many of us here in Deepest Springfield, that’s how we first encountered James Earl Jones. That voice.

Writer, cartoon voice director, and de-factor pop culture historian Mark Evanier has a great personal remembrance of working with Jones in his voice actor capacity. Across the internet, we’ve seen other examples about how he was a joy to work with and was joyful himself. So, in closing, here’s a video from a bygone era of him having fun with his voice:
