Satirical Space Opera… from the 2nd Century?!?

We’re always up for looking for interesting public domain works we might adapt for Jabberwocky Audio Theater, which folks may have noticed with our series Through the Looking Glass and Through a Glass, Darkly. So currently, we’ve been looking at various science fiction, fantasy, and horror from the 1920s.

But apparently, we haven’t been looking back far enough because there’s a space opera from [checks notes] Ancient Greece?!?

We’ll let Austin McConnell take it from here:

Now, there’s a slight pushback with the title of the video (“…you’ll never read”) because we absolutely will be reading a copy of this… though, truth be told, we would not do a faithful adaptation of it based on what is described, but there might be room for a loose adaptation, possibly romping through tropes of ancient myth.

Whatever the case, if we do it, it’ll be for one of our in-person production with live sound effects including a cowbell and slide whistle. Such things are laid out in Aristotle’s Poetics, right?
