Mary Lechter
Mary Lechter is an actor and arts educator. A proud member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors Equity Association, she has worked professionally onstage (with companies that include Theater of the First Amendment, The Studio Theatre, and Source Theatre Company and Arena Stage) screen (including ABC’s All My Children, Diesel Films’ Dracula’s Mother, and Tohubohu Productions’ You Pay Your Dues) and radio (NPR’s Morning Edition and various commercial spots) in the Metropolitan Washington area, Los Angeles, and New York. She is also a casting consultant and co-producer of independent films, and has directed several stage productions.
Mary’s passion for arts education sparked the founding of Acting for Young People (AFYP) in 1997 which has given her the privilege of working with many wonderful young actors and colleagues over the years. She is Executive Director of Mason Community Arts Academy and a longtime member of GMU’s School of Theater Performance Faculty. She previously taught at the Studio Theatre Acting Conservatory and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Mary can be heard as the voice of Mary Todd Lincoln in the upcoming animated short The Lincoln Gambit (Red Zeppelin Productions). She resides in Fairfax, VA with her husband, actor Kevin Murray, and their two adorable dachshunds.
