Tara Garwood
Tara Garwood (she/her) is an award-winning actress, voice over artist, and filmmaker and owner of Tarakata Films, which specializes in telling women’s stories through the lens of horror. Her background as an actor and former horror theatre Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director informs her work as a director, writer, and producer.
Tara’s short films have been Official Selections in many festivals, and won several awards. She received the 2021 Distinguished Service Award from the Television, Internet and Video Association for her work with the organization as well as her mentorship and volunteering efforts.
As an actor, Tara can be seen in such varied roles as an uptight presidential staffer in the HBO series Veep, Palin’s hairdresser in Game Change, a useless victim in The Invasion with Nicole Kidman, “the other woman” in Lovely Molly, and an insane knife-wielding uber-feminist in Women’s Studies, and various roles in other movies. She has also lent her acting talents to two DC-area productions that received local Emmys. Tara is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors’ Equity Association.
In her free time, Tara enjoys knitting, all things sci-fi, and snuggling with her Boston Terriers.
